Hyssop is a hardy, perennial herb with aromatic, dark green leaves and spikes of blue, pink, or white flowers that bloom in summer. Growing up to 2 feet tall, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds while deterring pests. Traditionally used in herbal medicine and teas, it also makes a beautiful border or container plant.
Upon receiving hyssop in the mail, unpack immediately and water if dry. Allow it to rest in indirect light for a day before transplanting. Plant in sandy, well-draining soil with good air circulation. Water sparingly—hyssop is drought-tolerant once established. Prune regularly to encourage bushy growth and prevent legginess. Protect from extreme frost in colder climates.
