Listada de Gandia is a beautiful heirloom eggplant from Spain, recognized for its striking purple and white striped skin and creamy, mild-flavored flesh. It’s ideal for grilling, roasting, or using in Mediterranean dishes, offering a tender texture with fewer seeds.
Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost in warm, well-drained soil (pH 6.0-6.8) with temperatures around 75-85°F (24-29°C). Transplant outdoors when the weather is consistently warm, spacing plants 18-24 inches apart in full sun. Provide consistent moisture and fertilize with a balanced, low-nitrogen fertilizer. Harvest in 75-85 days when fruits are firm and glossy, before seeds fully develop, for the best flavor and texture.
