Turkish eggplants, also known as Turkish Orange or Scarlet eggplants, are small, round fruits that ripen to a vibrant orange-red color with mild, slightly sweet flesh. They are commonly used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine, perfect for roasting, stuffing, or pickling.

Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost in warm, well-draining soil with a pH of 5.5-6.5. Maintain temperatures around 75-85°F (24-29°C) for optimal germination. Transplant outdoors when soil warms to at least 70°F, spacing plants 18-24 inches apart in full sun. Water consistently and fertilize with balanced nutrients. Harvest in 80-90 days when fruits are firm and fully colored, avoiding over-ripeness to prevent bitterness.
