Sweet woodruff (Galium odoratum) is a low-growing, shade-loving perennial with delicate whorled leaves and tiny white flowers in spring. It spreads quickly, forming a lush ground cover, especially in moist, well-drained soil. Known for its sweet, hay-like scent when dried, it’s often used in potpourris and herbal teas. This deer-resistant plant thrives in woodland gardens, under trees, or as a fragrant addition to shaded borders.
Upon arrival, unpack and water the plants if dry. Allow them to rest in indirect light for a day. Gradually introduce them to outdoor conditions. Plant in rich, moist, well-drained soil with partial to full shade. Water regularly until established, then occasionally. Trim any damaged foliage to encourage healthy growth.
